Bones Blog: It’s Time To Migrate
It’s almost time for the Bones Club Heritage collection to migrate from OpenSea to its own independent contract. Here’s everything you need to know.
What is the migration and why do I need to do it?
The Heritage collection needs to move across from the current OpenSea shared storefront smart contract address to our own. This process of transferring your NFT across is known as the “migration”.
The reason this is occurring is so that all our collections are independently owned by us and allow us to implement features on our website, such as validating if you own a Heritage Bones to access merchandise and other rewards. It allows us full control over our contract and opens up new opportunities, such as the updated artwork currently planned, or tokens if we go down that path in future.
We have used a standard ERC-721 contract so that you will retain the same number Bones when you migrate your Heritage Bones Club NFT. As this requires gas, you’ll have plenty of time to migrate at a time that suits you the most.
Who needs to migrate?
Anyone who owns a Bones Club NFT from the Heritage collection will need to migrate to the new contract. You cannot migrate any other NFTs. If you transfer your Bones NFT from the new collection or your companion, you will lose it and we won’t be able to recover it for you.
How do I migrate?
Once live on our website at bonesclub.io, you will see the menu option for the “Migration Tool”. Once you select this option, our website will step you through the process. The first step is to transfer your Heritage NFT from OpenSea to the contract address displayed on our website. Please make sure you copy and paste this address correctly.
Once transferred, refresh the page and your NFT will appear on screen with a button that says “migrate”. These steps require gas to complete.
Once complete, the button beneath your NFT will update to show that your NFT has been migrated. It will then appear within the updated collection across marketplaces such as OpenSea and LooksRare.

When do I migrate?
Migration starts from 18 January 7pm PST/ 19 January 2pm AEDT. You’ll have some time to migrate and we will remind you in Discord before we launch any features that require the new contract.
